In yesterday’s episode we shared a remarkable fact: during this time where many businesses are struggling, online coaches are making great livings from the comfort of their own homes.
Today’s episode has a different focus.
Imagine that you are going back to school for a career that is purposeful, in high demand, and yields $150-$250 per session starting rate, with room to grow to a six figure practice.
Not only that – it’s a career you can practice from anywhere you choose – from home, for instance. Very useful this year!
To get that kind of career, would you go to school for one year? Two years? Three?
Now, this may surprise you: coaching does not require previous schooling. You can get trained, certified, and start practicing within 1-3 months.
The reason why coaches can start working so soon after training is that coaching is based on certain interpersonal skills that you’ve probably been working on all your life.
Most coaches are:
1. Interested in personal growth.
Coaching is about helping your clients to grow. You don’t have to be “perfect” to become a coach, but you DO need to be interested in growing, learning, and making things better… that’s the energy you will be passing to your clients.
2. A lover of learning.
Because coaching is a form of learning, most successful coaches love learning. They are curious about people and get a thrill from learning a new strategy or solution.
3. Positive.
You have a natural faith that there has to be a better way to a better future. A coach helps their client to see their highest potential and to take positive action.
4. Mission-driven.
Coaches enjoy having a personal mission, knowing that every day they are making the world a better place and improving the lives of people around them. There’s no bigger thrill than seeing one of your clients transforming their life.
5. A lover of freedom.
A coaching career gives you tremendous freedom and flexibility. Every day of coaching is filled with variety and interest.
If this sounds like you, it’s likely that coaching would be a good fit.
So how do you go from a complete beginner to a successful, skilled coach?
Well, a coach creates value for their clients by offering them coaching sessions. Coaching sessions are based on certain specialized strategies that are designed to bring the client support, insight, and resourcefulness.
For instance, imagine a client that is feeling overwhelmed with life and work.
They want to move past this feeling but they’re not sure how. For those situations, we recommend one of our Activation™ Method coaching sessions called the Metaphor Strategy. It’s a step-by-step process for creatively and interactively moving out of emotions you don’t want into the emotions you do want.
Would you like to see an example of the Metaphor Strategy? Here’s Mark Peysha leading a client named Hannah through this strategy so that she can overcome the feeling of overwhelm.
